Well-Traveled Ward Filly Resurfaces at Del Mar

Con Te Partiro | Racing Post

'TDN Rising Star' Con Te Partiro (Scat Daddy) continues to rack up the frequent flyer miles as she heads back out to the West Coast for Saturday's GI Del Mar Oaks. A romping winner of the Bolton Landing S. sprinting on the Saratoga sod almost exactly a year ago, she settled for fourth when stretched to a mile for the first time in Santa Anita's Surfer Girl S. last October. Second down the hill in the Juvenile Turf Sprint on Breeders' Cup Saturday Nov. 5, she resurfaced to check in a close fourth in Belmont's seven-panel Soaring Softly S. May 20 before belying long odds to upend Royal Ascot's Sandringham H. over a straight mile June 21. Conditioner Wesley Ward has done well shipping to San Diego in recent years, and while this nine-panel distance is a bit of a question mark, Con Te Partiro's half-brother Donworth (Tiznow) could vouch for her stoutness when he contests the 10-furlong GI Pacific Classic S. two races earlier. Dream Dancing (Tapit) ships in from Saratoga and she's another who the day's earlier races could give clues about. The graded stakes-winning Mark Casse pupil was third behind subsequent GI Belmont Oaks heroine and Saturday's GI Alabama S. contestant New Money Honey (Medaglia d'Oro) in the GI Wonder Again S. in June. She was seventh last time in the GIII Lake George S. behind GII Lake Placid S. entrant Proctor's Ledge (Ghostzapper). Madam Dancealot (Ire) (Sir Prancealot {Ire}) leads the local contingent, having annexed the GII San Clemente H. when stretched to a mile here July 23.
