An international cast of 151 nominations have been allotted weights for the A$3-million G1 Doncaster Mile on the first day of of The Championships at Randwick Apr. 1. Heading the field at 58kg is the John O'Shea trained Hartnell (GB) (Authorized {GB}), who is due to take part in the G1 Chipping Norton S. this coming Saturday. Four-time Group 1 winner Black Heart Bart (Aus) (Blackfriars {Aus}) is next in line on 57kg. Sharing this burden are the Hong Kong-trained pair of Beauty Only (Ire) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}), winner of the G1 Longines Hong Kong Mile in December and Helene Paragon (Fr) (Polan {Fr}), successful last month in the G1 Steward's Cup. Adding further international interest is the presence of the Japanese mare Smart Layer (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}), who is weighted at 54.5kg. The highest weighted 3-year-olds are Prized Icon (Aus) (More Than Ready) and Astern (Aus) (Medaglia d'Oro), who were both allotted 53kg, 2kg above the 3-year-old fillies I Am A Star (NZ) (I Am Invincible {Aus}) and Global Glamour (Aus) (Star Witness {Aus}). The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Global Glamour is exempt from ballot following her win in last year's G1 Flight S.
