The G3 Greenham S. at Newbury will now be sponsored by Lord and Lady Lloyd-Webber's Watership Down Stud for the next three years, the racecourse announced on Thursday. Scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 13, the G3 Watership Down Stud Greenham S. is part of the Dubai Duty Free Spring Trials Weekend and will now be worth £70,000. G1 Dewhurst S. hero and 'TDN Rising Star' Too Darn Hot (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), bred by the Lloyd-Webbers' Watership Down Stud and owned by Lord Lloyd-Webber, is pointing to the Greenham as his 3-year-old opener.

“We are delighted to be involved with a new sponsorship at Newbury Racecourse which will see the first running of the Watership Down Stud Greenham S.,” said Watership Down Stud General Manager Simon Marsh. “It is also a wonderful coincidence to have the promising Too Darn Hot as a potential contender for the race. The Lloyd Webbers have such a close association with this racecourse and are big supporters of the industry which makes this partnership even more meaningful.”

“We are delighted and grateful that Watership Down Stud has come on board to sponsor the Greenham S.,” added Newbury Racecourse Chief Executive Julian Thick.
