Don Alberto Stable's Champion and 'TDN Rising Star' Unique Bella (Tapit) will not make an expected start in the GI Santa Margarita S. this Saturday at Santa Anita after coming down with a cough and missing some training last week. The story was first reported by Daily Racing Form.

“She just had a little cough and she's training, but we felt like we shouldn't run her,” trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said.

The imposing gray filly, crowned Eclipse champion sprinter in January, was last seen running a career high when dominating the GII Santa Maria S. in her 4-year-old debut Feb. 1. Her most recent workout was a five-furlong bullet in :58 3/5 (1/106) Feb. 25 at Santa Anita.

Hollendorfer added that he doesn't have a timetable for when Unique Bella will officially return to the worktab, but that he's considering shipping her out of California for the first time to run next out in the GI Apple Blossom H. Apr. 13 at Oaklawn Park.
