+FREE DROP BILLY (c, 2, Union Rags&log=">Union Rags–Trensa {GSP, $170,470}, by Giant's Causeway) made a bold move between horses on the turn and skipped away in the stretch to a first-out victory at Churchill. Coming in off of a swift three-furlong local gate breeze in :36 flat June 11, the $200,000 Keeneland September buy was given a 5-1 chance and settled near the back of the pack behind a :22.33 quarter. Advancing while sandwiched between rivals in the four-path as the field bunched up nearing the straightaway, he surged to the lead at the three-sixteenths pole and quickly drew clear to a three-length tally. Transgress (Into Mischief) was second-best after having traffic trouble in the stretch. The winner is a half to Hawkbill (Kitten's Joy), Hwt. at 3 on English FH, 9 1/2-11f & G1SW-Eng, $677,988. His dam, a half to MGSW Batique (Storm Cat) out of GISW Serape (Fappiano), has an unraced sophomore filly by Hard Spun named Hard Cloth, a yearling Curlin colt and a More Than Ready colt foaled earlier this season.
