Uncle Mo New York-bred Filly Sharp in Big A Debut

Uncle Mo

+CLIPTHECOUPONANNIE (f, 2, Uncle Mo–Lights Off Annie {MSW, $209,671}, by Freud) joined her trainer's South Florida string at Palm Beach Downs in October and posted a steady series of drills at that venue before shipping north to finalize her preparations for this career debut at Belmont. Backed at odds of 3-2 to win at first asking at the Big A, the Repole homebred chased from the inside through the early stages while in tight quarters before being guided out to press on the outside through a hot opening quarter in :22.29. She reached even terms on the turn for home and kicked on nicely down the stretch to graduate by 4 3/4 lengths. Fellow firster Lead Us to the Bar (Dublin) rallied late for second. The winner's dam Lights Off Annie carried owner/breeder Mike Repole's silks to a pair of stakes victories and four overall wins over Aqueduct's inner track for trainers Bruce Levine and Michael Hushion. Clipthecouponannie becomes the 27th winner for her freshman sire (by Indian Charlie). Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $33,000. Click Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
