Uncle Mo Filly Follows in Sylmar's Hoofsteps in Busher

Mo d'Amour provided Ed Stanco's King of Prussia Stables with its second win in the Busher as she attempts to follow in the hoofsteps of her owner's Princess of Sylmar (Majestic Warrior), who won the 2013 renewal of this test en route to a 38-1 upset in that year's GI Kentucky Oaks. Sitting in a ground-saving third early through a first quarter in :24.78, the bay kept was passed by Katniss the Victor and tracked from fourth through a half in :49.51. Swung out three wide to take on the dueling leaders in early stretch, the sophomore swept past the leaders and skipped clear to a decisive score. “I thought it worked out perfect,” said Byron Hughes, assistant to Todd Pletcher. “Chris [DeCarlo] did a good job getting her to the rail when the opportunity was present at the first turn and saved ground. Coming home he got her out just in time and it was nice. She seems to be maturing with the added experience from every race. I still think she got a little green when she got the lead kind of waiting but hopefully she can get better.” As for whether or not the filly is Oaks bound, Stanco said, “We'll see. It's all up to Todd and how the horse trains; if she's ready. We have a long way to go before that. This was a nice performance.” A debut winner sprinting over this strip Nov. 15, Mo d'Amour finished seventh in the nine-panel GII Demoiselle S. next out Nov. 28. Third behind 'TDN Rising Star' Constellation (Bellamy Road) in this venue's Ruthless S. Jan. 17, she captured a one-mile optional claimer at Laurel last time Feb. 6.
