Ulysses to Stand for £30K at Cheveley Park

MG1SW Ulysses (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) will stand for £30,000 at Cheveley Park Stud in 2018 after David and Patricia Thompson's operation purchased a majority share in the 4-year-old earlier this autumn. A winner of the G1 Juddmonte International and G1 Coral Eclipse S. this term, the chestnut, forced to miss an engagement in the G1 Longines Breeders' Cup Turf due to injury, heads to the English nursery with five wins from 13 appearances and prize money of $2,544,053. In addition to winning a brace of Group 3s, Ulysses was second in this year's G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth S., as well as third in both the G1 Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and G1 Prince of Wales's S.

Cheveley Park veteran Pivotal (GB) (Polar Falcon) is available at £40,000. He was represented by G1SW Brando (GB) this term and has sired a total of 26 Group 1 winners to date. 2018 also marks the return of Intello (Ger) (Galileo {Ire}) to the Cheveley ranks, as he was standing his past two seasons at Haras Du Quesnay in France. The French champion and first-season sire has already been represented by SW Sonjeu (Fr) among his eight juvenile winners and will stand for £20,000. Group 1 sire Dutch Art (GB) (Medicean {GB})'s fee is £15,000, while MG1SW Twilight Son (GB) (Kyllachy {GB}), who has his first foals on the ground next year, is set at £10,000. First-season sire and MG1SW Lethal Force (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) already has 21 first-crop winners and will stand for £8,000, while young sire Mayson (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) will cover at £6,000 in 2018. Rounding out the roster is G1SW Garswood (GB) (Dutch Art {GB}) at £4,000.

Cheveley Park Stud Managing Director, Chris Richardson, commented; “I feel our stallion roster for 2018 is very exciting, especially with the pending arrival of Ulysses and the return of Intello, further enhancing the commitment Mr. and Mrs. David Thompson have to the breeding industry. We trust breeders will embrace the great value and opportunities represented by the stallions standing at Cheveley Park Stud in 2018.”
