Godolphin's G1 Jebel Hatta S. winner Tryster (Ire) (Shamardal) has been injured during training and will miss an intended outing in the G1 Tenno Sho Autumn in Tokyo Oct. 30. The 5-year-old gelding will undergo surgery to repair the injury, with his racing career in the balance.

“It is a great pity that Tryster has suffered this injury, which is serious enough to require surgery,” said trainer Charlie Appleby. “We were looking forward to him recapturing his old form on the track in Tokyo. But that is not going to happen now and his recovery will dictate whether he returns to racing.”

A former all-weather star in Britain, Tryster hit his best stride in Dubai over the winter, winning twice on the turf, including the Jebel Hatta, and finishing third in the G1 Dubai Turf. He ran twice this summer, finishing fifth in the G1 Prince Of Wales's S. at Royal Ascot and eighth in the GI Arlington Million Aug. 13.
