Toinette added a third graded stakes score to her resume, coming from just off the pace under a well-timed ride from Flavien Prat to win Sunday's GII Goldikova S. at Santa Anita.
Backed down to 2-5 favoritism, Toinette was patiently ridden in the early going by Prat and moved smoothly to the front after six furlongs in 1:10.50 before cruising clear late to best stablemate Simply Breathless by 2 1/4 lengths. Both Drysdale trainees were purchased on the advice of bloodstock agent Shawn Dugan.
Tointette won last year's GIII Edgewood S. and took the GIII Autumn Miss S. over the Goldikova's one-mile distance at Santa Anita last October. The 4-year-old filly had a delayed start to 2019, but quickly made up for lost time. She opened the season with an optional-claimer win at Del Mar Aug. 7 and was third in the GII John C. Mabee S. at the oceanside oval Aug. 31. She returned to Arcadia to score a 1 1/2-length victory in the course-and-trip Swingtime S. last time out Oct. 5.
Pedigree Notes:
WinStar Farm purchased I Bet Toni Knows, in foal to Dialed In, for $375,000 at last year's Keeneland November sale. Her Hard Spun colt sold as a weanling at that same auction for $150,000. After producing a filly by Dialed In this year, the mare was bred back to Triple Crown winner Justify.
Bluegrass Farm Partners had I Bet Toni Knows, with Toinette in utero, for $37,000 at the 2014 Keeneland November sale.
