Time Test Ready For Golden Challenge

News that Golden Horn (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}) is to be rerouted to the G1 Juddmonte International S. at York next month has added further spice to that contest. One trainer not shying away from the prospect of taking on the outstanding Derby and Eclipse winner is Roger Charlton whose Time Test (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), owned by the race sponsor Khalid Abdullah, remains very much on course for the race. “I'm actually looking forward to it,” said the Beckhampton trainer. “I'm pleased Golden Horn didn't run on Saturday. There won't be many opportunities to take him on. I also considered a race in France for Time Test but didn't want to subject a young horse to disrupted cross-Channel travel.” Time Test burst onto the scene with a smooth victory in the G3 Tercentenary Cup at Royal Ascot, in what was his first taster of stakes company. A vastly different test awaits at York August 19 but Charlton is confident of a bold show from the 3-year-old and said, “The Juddmonte is a big step up from winning a Group 3 but I think nine out of ten people would say Time Test gave the most impressive performance at the Royal meeting. Timeform rated him above Gleneagles (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) afterwards, so we have to aim high.” Time Test is certainly bred for brilliance, being by the world class Dubawi (Ire) (Dubai Millennium {GB}) out of Group 1 winner Passage Of Time (GB) (Dansili {GB}).
