The betting for this newcomers' event suggested a duel would unfold between Magic America and Beta (GB) (Selkirk). Although the pair finished first and second, it was anything but that scenario as the former streaked clear under hand riding for an impressive debut success. Sporting headgear for this first go, the eventual winner was settled fourth, but made rapid headway to grab runaway leader Jiangxi (Fr) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) at the eighth pole. Exhaling that rival soon after, the 5-2 second choice was in total command in the latter stages and cruised to the line 2 1/2 lengths in advance of the sympathetically ridden Beta. "She's a very fast filly with nice quality and really quickened away in good style," claimed winning trainer Criquette Head-Maarek. "She might come back here in the [June 15] Listed Prix La Fleche, but the owner may want to go for a valuable prize in Ireland," she added. Lifetime Record: 1 start, 1 win, Eu9,500.
