Tattersalls Ireland September Starts Today

The Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale begins its four-day run Tuesday at Fairyhouse. Split into two sections, there are 515 yearlings catalogued to sell in Part I over the first two days, with another 462 to follow in Part II.

The sale has been riding the crest of a wave thanks to the exploits of some high-profile graduates, including three Classic winners in Europe this season in Galileo Gold (GB) (Paco Boy {Ire}) (G1 QIPCO 2000 Guineas), Hawksmoor (Ire) (Azamour {Ire}) (G2 German 1000 Guineas) and Conselice (GB) (Showcasing {GB}) (G3 Italian 1000 Guineas).

“We had a record number of applications for this year's sale–a record number of applications from Irish vendors, but also from vendors in the UK. The sale has progressed significantly in recent years, but the number of entries from the UK took us by surprise somewhat,” offered Tattersalls Ireland's Director of Marketing Simon Kerins with regard to the sale's expansion from three days last year. “The sale has progressed every year, but this year has been phenomenal really. Galileo Gold is obviously a great flagship horse, but there's also [Dee S. winner] Viren's Army (Ire), plus some really high-class 2-year-olds including [G2 Railway S. winner] Medicine Jack (GB).”

The first horse is set to enter the ring at 10 a.m. local time.
