Tapizar Colt Wins Churchill Debut

+TIP TAP TAPIZAR (c, 2, Tapizar–Counterpoise, by Storm Cat) made his unveiling a winning one beneath the Twin Spires Saturday. The colt posted two local workouts in preparation for this debut, including a breeze at the race distance May 31, and was nevertheless dismissed at odds of 8-1. Away in good order, the dark bay dictated terms through a quarter in :22.67 and was confronted by second-timer Lawton (Archarcharch) on the outside on the turn. Tip Tap Tapizar shook loose from that rival at the head of the lane and drew clear to score by 3 1/4 lengths. Our Stormin Norman (Blame) rallied to complete the exacta, with Lawton third. The winner is the third for his freshman sire (by Tapit) and is a half-brother to Divine Music (Songandaprayer), SP, $153,658. Counterpoise is a half-sister to Canadian Horse of the Year, Canadian champion sophomore colt and MGISW Peaks and Valleys (Mt. Livermore), as well as MSW & MGSP Alternate (Seattle Slew).
