The 6-5 favorite broke from the far outside in the 10-horse field and was caught four wide into the first turn, settling off just off the pace through a half in :47.95. Widest of a trio moving to challenge the pacesetter turning for home, Growth Engine grabbed command after three-quarters in 1:12.42 and easily turned back Thetrashmanscoming (Take Charge Indy) before reporting home a geared-down 2 1/2-length winner. Growth Engine, a $300,000 KEESEP yearling, is a half-brother to Pyro (Pulpit, GISW, $1,673,673) and Longview Drive (Pulpit, MSW & MGSP, $337,022); and a full to War Echo (GSW, $284,387) and Farrier (SW & G1SP-UAE, $434,031).
