GOING OUT (f, 2, Tapit&log=">Tapit-Forever Together {Ch. Grass Mare & MGISW, $2,957,639}, by Belong to Me) came in off a narrow half-length defeat in her debut on the Delaware Park turf Sept 9. The gray broke outward as the 3-1 second choice, but settled two off the rail behind pacesetter and favorite Classy Act (Into Mischief) through fractions of :24.59 and :50.07. Under Joel Rosario, she sat comfortably as rivals tried to make up ground on the backstretch before picking up the tempo going around the far turn, drawing even with Classy Act at the top of the stretch. It was a fight to the wire as Going Out put her head in front at the eighth pole with Classy Act being a stubborn foe fighting back on the rail, but holding off the challenge for the win. The filly's dam won the 2008 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf en route to champion turf mare honors that year.
