Tapit Filly Too Good for Rivals in Debut

7th-GPW, $40,000, Msw, 10-25, 2yo, f, 1 1/16m (off turf), 1:48.58, sy.

MY FAVORITE GIFT (f, 2, Tapit&log=">Tapit–Downthedustyroad {GISW & MGSP, $291,708}, by Storm and a Half) had been working consistently over the local main track, including a bullet work on Sept. 29, where she went three furlongs from the gate in :36 1/5 (1/4). The $300,000 Keeneland September yearling buy got bumped around at the start and sat second heading into the first turn. She took command entering the backside under a comfortable hold by Emisael Jaramillo and continued to widen the margin entering the far turn. My Favorite Gift was seven lengths in front of her competition at the top of the stretch and never looked back from there, opening up with ease despite drifting out in the final furlong to post a 18 1/2-length romp as the 5-2 second choice. Ciomara (Broken Vow) closed to grab second and complete the exacta. Downthedustyroad was sold at the 2007 Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale for $1.5 million. She is responsible for a yearling filly by Malibu Moon, who sold at this year's Keeneland September Sale for $100,000, and a weanling filly by Curlin. She was bred to Uncle Mo this season. Sales history: $525,000 RNA Wlg '15 KEENOV. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $24,000. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
