Surrender Now scored a convincing victory in Santa Anita's Landaluce S. to give her freshman sire (by Tiznow) his third winner overall and first stakes winner. A first-out winner going a furlong shorter here June 9, the $220,000 Barretts March buy was away best of all as the 3-2 chalk and stalked the pace of Gorgeous Ginny from close up through a :22.45 quarter. Inhaling that foe on her own power nearing the top of the lane, Surrender Now burst clear by the three-sixteenths pole and motored home eight lengths to the good of the pacesetter. The winner's dam produced a colt by Fed Biz named Tyrannical Rex in 2016. “I told Gary [Hartunian of Rockingham Ranch] this is the best 2-year-old filly I've been around in 15 years, since I was prepping babies for Golden Eagle Farm…She's been a good filly all along. Sometimes they work like that and run like crap. And other times they duplicate it. It's nice to see one work great and run great.” Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
