Sunny Ridge Named NJ-Bred HOY

Dennis Drazin homebred Sunny Ridge (Holy Bull) has been honored by the Thoroughbred Breeders' Association of New Jersey as New Jersey-bred Horse of the Year and champion older male for 2018.

The MGISP now-6-year-old, who won the GIII Withers S. as a sophomore, closed out the 2018 season with a victory in the State Dinner S. at Belmont Park and placings in the GI Cigar Mile H., GII Kelso S. and the GIII Salvator Mile S. Over the body of his career, he has won or placed in 14 black-type events, eight of them graded, and earned $1,199,902. He most recently finished second in the Jan. 26 Jazil S. at Aqueduct. Trained by Jason Servis, Sunny Ridge ranks as the fifth-highest New Jersey-bred runner of all time.

Other New Jersey-bred honorees of 2018 include Golden Brown (Offlee Wild), champion 3-year-old and champion turf runner; Mooji Moo, Jr. (Posse), champion 2-year-old; Liz's Cable Girl (Cable Boy), champion older female; Brother Chub (Hey Chub), champion sprinter; Irish Sovereign (Polish Numbers), broodmare of the year; and Hey Chub (Carson City), stallion of the year.
