Street Sense Breeze Up Sensation Scores On Debut

By

WALK IN THE SUN (c, 3, Street Sense–Mystic Melody {SW & MGSP-Fr}, by Seattle Slew), the €1.4million Arqana Breeze-Up record setter, was hot property for this belated debut and travelled like a short-priced favourite from the outset as he tanked behind the unbeaten Godolphin pace-setter First Contact (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}). Needing the whip to eventually edge ahead of that rival inside the final 100 yards, the 5-4 chalk stayed on in professional manner to prevail by a short head and start his career in perfect fashion, with eight lengths separating the front duo and the third. Walk In the Sun was a stand-out at the Breeze-Up, with his pedigree stacking up against his impressive paces. His dam was a useful performer for Andre Fabre, winning the Listed Prix Coronation and placing in the G3 Prix des Reservoirs and G3 Prix Vanteaux. Her half-brother Alpha (Bernardini), now residing at Sequel Stallions, New York, was successful in the GI Woodward S. and dead-heated in the 2012 GI Travers S., while she is also a half to the MGSP Lavender Sky (Mt. Livermore). Initially a $15,000 KEESEP yearling, Walk In the Sun was a pinhooking masterpiece even by the exalted standards in that sphere of Willie Browne's Mocklershill organisation. The second dam Munnaya (Nijinsky II) was a Listed Lingfield Oaks Trial winner out of the G3 Princess Margaret S. scorer Hiaam (Alydar) who is a half to Key To the Moon, Gorgeous (Slew o' Gold) and Seaside Attraction (Seattle Slew). The latter was responsible for the champion Golden Attraction (Mr. Prospector) and sires Cape Town and Cape Canaveral, with this also being the family of Fantastic Light and Swain (Ire). Mystic Melody has been bred to both Animal Kingdom and Elusive Quality. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $5,487. Video, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
