Stonestreet Goes Back to the Well for POTN Colt

Having campaigned Ocean Knight (Curlin) to a victory in the GIII Sam F. Davis S., Stonestreet Stables went to $950,000 to acquire that colt's Pioneerof the Nile half-brother, which was consigned to Monday's session of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Selected Yearling Sale as hip 111 from the consignment of Gainesway, Agent for breeders Erik and Pavla Nygaard's Thor-Bred Stables. A Mar. 2 foal, the bay is a son of the winning Stormy Atlantic mare Ocean Goddess, meaning that hip 111 was bred similarly to Triple Crown winner American Pharaoh, who was, of course, by the WinStar stallion and whose broodmare sire is by Storm Cat, in his case Yankee Gentleman. John Moynihan signed the winning ticket on behalf of Stonestreet, who will partner on the colt with Coolmore, home of American Pharoah.
