Trainer Steve Knapp has been fined $1,500 by the California Horse Racing Board for a medication violation at Del Mar Aug. 25 on Emtech (Concord Point), who finished second in a starter allowance that day. The violation was for an excessive level of phenylbutazone, a Class 4 substance, and it was his second offense in a one-year period.
The 3-year-old Emtech won his next start at Los Alamitos Sept. 14 and was euthanized two weeks later after breaking both front ankles during a race at Santa Anita Sept. 28.
