Champion Stellar Wind (Curlin) returned to the track Thursday morning for the first time since finishing fourth to Beholder (Henny Hughes) in the Nov. 4 GI Breeders' Cup Distaff. The chestnut will target the GI Santa Margarita S. Mar. 18 for her 2017 debut.
“We freshened her up but didn't turn her out,” said John Sadler. “She's back and looking great and we'll see if she makes the Santa Margarita.”
Runner-up to Beholder in the GI Vanity Mile S. in her 2016 bow June 4, Stellar Wind bested the three-time Eclipse winner in both the GI Clement L. Hirsch S. July 30 and the GI Zenyatta S. Oct. 1 prior to her effort in the Distaff.
