St. Patrick's Day to Stand at Journeyman Stud

St. Patrick's Day (Pioneerof the Nile–Littleprincessemma, by Yankee Gentleman), the 4-year-old full-brother to Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, will enter stud at Journeyman Stud in Ocala for 2020. He will stand as property of a syndicate that includes Climax Stallions, Stonehedge Farm and Journeyman Stud for a fee of $5,000 live foal.

A $2.1 million in utero purchase by Jane Lyon's Summer Wind Farm at the 2014 FTKNOV sale, the bay colt was privately purchased by Coolmore and made two starts for Hall of Famer Bob Baffert, breaking his maiden at second asking. Transferred to Aidan O'Brien, he finished second in the G3 Renaissance S. and retired with $69,300 in earnings.

“I trained three siblings, all Grade I performers,” Baffert said. “St. Patrick's Day undoubtedly showed that same type of talent when he broke his maiden going :21 and :44 in his second start.”

In addition to American Pharoah, St. Patrick's Day is a half-sibling to Grade I winner Chasing Yesterday (Tapit), also trained by Baffert.

“I can't express how excited we are to have St. Patrick's Day here at Journeyman,” Journeyman's Brent Fernung said. “I want to thank Sean Feld of Climax Stallions for approaching us with this outstanding prospect. With his pedigree and talented, but abbreviated race record, St. Patrick's Day reminds me of Khozan and I think, like Khozan, he'll benefit from these tough Florida mares. Having Stonehedge Farm and Journeyman among his ownership group guarantees that St. Patrick's Day will have a great book of mares.”
