Spooking Away the Competition

Gamble's Ghost | Michael Burns

Gamble's Ghost (Ghostzapper), a rallying second as the chalk in the grassy GII Natalma S. Sept. 12, will be the clear-cut choice over five rivals in Sunday's GIII Mazarine S. on the Woodbine synthetic. The Ivan Dalos homebred was tabbed as a 'TDN Rising Star' after defeating Conquest Soprano (Super Saver) by an eye-catching 8 1/4 lengths in her seven-furlong Woodbine debut over the synthetic Aug. 14.

Conquest Soprano, a well-beaten third in the My Dear S. June 28, makes her route debut after graduating at fifth asking going seven furlongs here Sept. 12.

The well-bred Sam-Son Farm homebred Swoop and Strike (Smart Strike), produced by a daughter of Canadian champion Dancethruthedawn (Mr. Prospector), debuted with a smart come-from-behind win in an off-the-turfer here Aug. 21.
