Finalists for the 2015 Sovereign Awards were announced by The Jockey Club of Canada Wednesday. Winners–along with the four finalists for Horse of the Year–will be revealed at the 41st annual Sovereign Awards Ceremony, held at Woodbine Racetrack on Friday, Apr. 8 on the eve of the track's 2016 opening day. A panel of 41 expert voters from Canada and the U.S. voted on the awards. Eligible horses must have started in Canada three times for horses three and up and twice for 2-year-olds. Human categories require 10 Canadian starts, while the Outstanding Broodmare Award is considered a lifetime achievement award for mares who have had a Canadian-bred stakes horse during the year and have produced at least one other Canadian-bred stakes horse previously.
