The brilliant two-time champion and 'TDN Rising Star' Songbird (Medaglia d'Oro) posted her third workout of the year Saturday, covering four furlongs in :48.80 (20/40) at Santa Anita.
“Songbird went out five-eighths in 1:02.36 and three quarters in 1:15 1/5,” Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said. “She's coming along at a fairly decent pace. We're going to look at the [GI] Beholder [Mile June 3 at Santa Anita] or the [GI] Ogden Phipps [at Belmont Park June 10].”
Songbird was last seen finishing second, beaten only a nose, to Beholder (Henny Hughes) in a GI Breeders' Cup Distaff for the ages Nov. 4, her first career defeat from 12 starts.
