Solow Ruled Out Of Royal Ascot

Solow | Racing Post

Champion miler Solow (GB) (Singspiel {Ire}), who has not been seen on a racecourse since winning a Chantilly conditions race last March, has been removed from consideration for a Royal Ascot return by trainer Freddy Head. The Wertheimer colourbearer, who rides a 10-race win streak including the Group 1 Dubai Turf, Prix d'Ispahan, Queen Anne S., Sussex S. and Queen Elizabeth II S. of 2015, made just the one start last year and was injured while training for a title defense of the Dubai Turf.

“His progress is slow,” Head admitted. “He's not that well and we have had a few problems. He's not going to be running in the near future and he won't be going to Ascot.”

Head added, “I think it will be the backend–maybe September or October–before he runs and he's such a lovely horse, I don't want to take any risks with him. If I'm not 100% happy with him, he won't run.”
