So Mi Dar, Jack Hobbs Nearing Returns

Unbeaten 3-year-old filly So Mi Dar (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) and her Classic-winning John Gosden stablemate Jack Hobbs (GB) (Halling) are nearing returns, according to the Newmarket conditioner.

So Mi Dar, a daughter of triple Group 1 winner Dar Re Mi (Ire) (Singspiel {Ire}), hasn't been seen since winning the G3 Musidora S. May 11 by four lengths, having been injured in the lead-up to the G1 Investec Oaks. She is entered in Sunday's G2 Moyglare “Jewels” Blandford S. at The Curragh, but Gosden revealed she is likely to wait for the G1 Prix de l'Opera at Chantilly Oct. 2.

“I think the Prix de l'Opera is a more realistic target, with the plan of getting a racecourse gallop or work in beforehand,” he explained. “She is in good form.”

Last year's G1 Irish Derby victor Jack Hobbs returns from a similar layoff, having been eased down on seasonal debut in the G2 Jockey Club S. Apr. 30. He targets Newbury's G3 Arc Trial Sept. 17.

“He is in great form,” Gosden said. “He is in the Arc. He has got to get the run in at Newbury beforehand and he is in the [G1] Champion S. [Oct. 15]. He will tell me how he is over the next 10 days.”
