A filly by Smart Strike became the top seller early in Monday's session of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale when bringing a final bid of $525,000 from agent Chris Brothers of Xavier Bloodstock. The chestnut filly, who worked a co-bullet furlong in :10 flat Thursday, is out of Salty Response (Cozzene), a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Salty Strike (Smart Strike). She was consigned by Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds, which purchased her for $275,000 at last year's Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling Sale.
