MG1SP Siyoushake (Ire) (Siyouni {Fr}) is in fine form ahead of a run in Saturday's G1 Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot S. at Newmarket's Rowley Mile. The Freddy Head trainee, one of three French representatives in the one-mile feature with MGSW Qemah (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}) and MGSW Usherette (Ire) (Shamardal) among the 13 representatives, won the G3 Prix Perth to end her season last fall and has filled the frame in her last three starts. Third in the G3 Prix Bertrand du Breuil Longines second up in June, the 5-year-old was a close third behind the reopposing 'TDN Rising Star' Roly Poly (War Front) in the G1 Prix Rothschild at Deauville on July 30 and she went one better last out when runner-up in the G1 Darley Prix Jean Romanet there on Aug. 20.
“Siyoushake is still in great condition and I have been very happy with her work,” said trainer Freddy Head. “We tried her over a mile and a quarter last time but I think that a mile is her best trip. I think that she has improved since her fourth in this race last year. It's been a very good season for her and she's been placed in a couple of Group 1s.”
The trainer added, “I haven't really talked with her owners about her staying in training in 2018, but there is a chance that this could be her last race. She's a lovely filly who never puts a foot wrong and although she was a bit difficult to get in the stalls when she first joined me, that's all finished now–she goes in like a lamb. I haven't trained a winner at the Rowley Mile yet [though Head has landed both the G1 Falmouth S. and the G1 Darley July Cup at the Adnams July Course] but I have fond memories of the course from when I was a jockey. I'm sure that first winner will come–maybe on Saturday.”
Morning line favourite for the Sun Chariot falls to G1 Matron S. third-place finisher Persuasive (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}), for John Gosden, while Nathra (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}) will also line up for the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe-winning trainer. G3 Atalanta S. heroine Aljazzi (GB) (Shamardal) will also take her place for Marco Botti, as will Roger Varian's trio of Dawn Of Hope (Ire) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}), Spangled (GB) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}) and Tomyris (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}). The William Haggis yard fields Muffri'Ha (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}), while Saeed bin Suroor's Arabian Hope (Distorted Humor) represents Godolphin, who also runs Usherette. Aidan O'Brien's other runner, Alluringly (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) rounds out the baker's dozen.
