Simcock Eyes German G1 For Algometer

Kirsten Rausing's homebred Algometer (GB) (Archipenko), who bounced back from a seventh-place finish in the G1 Derby to win Saturday's G3 Dubai Duty Free Legacy Cup S. at Newbury, could heard farther afield for his return to Group 1 company.

Trainer David Simcock is planning to aim the grey colt at the G1 Grosser Preis von Bayern at Munich in early November.

“He is absolutely great,” said Simcock. “He is a progressive horse and I'm very happy that he does it on the racecourse. I'm pretty sure he will strike at the top level given his conditions. Like I said, he lacks a bit of acceleration, but when he is in top gear he is not a slow horse.”

Algometer's dam Albanova (GB) (Alzao)–a sister to dual G1 Champion S. heroine Alborada (GB)–won three Group 1 contests over a mile and a half in Germany in 2004.
