Signalman (General Quarters), currently 22nd on the GI Kentucky Derby preference list, breezed five furlongs in :59.60 at Churchill Downs Saturday morning. In tandem with GI Longines GI Kentucky Oaks hopeful Restless Rider (Distorted Humor), Signalman–third last out in the Apr. 6 GII Blue Grass S.–reeled off internal fractions of :12.20, :23.80, :35.60 and :47.60. The winner of last year's GII Kentucky Jockey Club S. galloped out six furlongs in 1:13 and seven panels in 1:26.20, according to clocker John Nichols. The grey filly, who was runner-up in the Apr. 6 GI Ashland S. last time out, finished a length behind Signalman, completing her task in :59.80. The GI Alcibiades S. winner galloped out six furlongs in 1:14.20.
