GOTTA GO (c, 2, Shanghai Bobby–Disturbingly Hot, by Unbridled's Song), fifth going a furlong shorter in his debut at Ellis July 30, was given a 12-1 chance here. Settled in midpack behind a sharp early pace, Gotta Go inched closer to the front passing the quarter pole and through the turn. Well positioned behind the frontrunning Grade One (Midnight Lute) at the head of the lane, Gotta Go overtook that rival midstretch and drew off to win by an easy 4 3/4-length margin. Bow Ready (Oxbow) closed to nab second by a head over Grade One. Disturbingly Hot is responsible for a yearling colt by Speightstown in addition to a weanling filly by Pioneerof the Nile. She was bred to Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist. Gotta Go was one of seven purchases by Bob Lothenbach's team at last year's September sale for gross receipts just north of $2.65 million.
