It's not quite the same at stud–Frankel (GB) first, the rest nowhere–as it was at the races. But there is no question that the race for top second-season sire in Europe is pretty much cut and dried. Ranked by the average Timeform rating of their best 10 runners, this leaderboard shows the true difference in class between Frankel and his contemporaries. That said, Frankel is still waiting for his first European Group 1 winner, a feat already achieved by Nathaniel (Ire) (Enable {GB}), Excelebration (Ire) (Barney Roy {GB}) and Helmet (Aus) (Thunder Snow {Ire}) on the list. His 115.3 rating so far puts Frankel in seventh place among all second-season sires over the past 25 years. And there is still plenty of time remaining this season for him to climb even further.
