Ultima D broke alertly and wired the field to break her maiden in the Juvenile Fillies, staving off a late bid from favored Best Performance to complete a 1-2 finish for Saratoga shippers. Ultima D finished a dull fifth as the favorite on debut Apr. 20 at Keeneland and the $300,000 Keeneland September grad was runner-up to subsequent Victoria S. heroine Blueblood (City Zip) May 19 at Woodbine before running a neck second sprinting on the Saratoga turf July 29. Made the 3-1 second choice in this stakes debut, the chestnut broke alertly and was immediately put on the engine by Julio Garcia, facing only light pressure from Go Noni Go (Get Stormy) through fractions of :25.81 and :51.11 over the undulating turf course. Turning into the lane in control, Ultima D was shaken up past the quarter pole and instantly responded, slamming the door by the sixteenth marker to claim a convincing victory. Best Performance, second in both the June 8 Astoria S. and July 21 GIII Schuylerville S. on dirt, ran on well to be second again after encountering some traffic trouble in the lane, while Go Noni Go settled for third money.

The winner is a half to Feels Like Flying (Pure Prize), SP, $180,088, as well as a full to stakes-placed Scatladybdancing. She shares a second dam, MGSP Comical Cat (Exceller), with Wesley Ward's G1SW No Nay Never (Scat Daddy). La Violette was bred to Tapiture this spring.
