Saving the 'Best' for Almost Last: Medaglia Filly Brings a Million at Fasig

Medaglia d'Oro

A well-built daughter of top sire Medaglia d'Oro (hip 290) out of stakes winner Hung the Moon (Malibu Moon) provided late fireworks at Tuesday's Fasig-Tipton July Sale of Selected Yearlings when new auction juggernaut Larry Best stretched to $1 million to take her home. Bred by Southern Equine Stables, the Feb. 25 foal was purchased in utero for $280,000 by Mike Levy at the 2015 Keeneland November sale. Bluewater Sales LLC, Agent XX consigned the bay miss. Best's OXO Equine first emerged on the sales scene at last year's Keeneland September sale, and was among the biggest spenders at this year's juvenile auctions.
