Saint's Fan Pointing For Lecomte

Dallas Stewart's undefeated homebred Saint's Fan (Tale of Ekati) is on schedule to tackle two turns for the first time in the Jan. 21 GIII Lecomte S. at Fair Grounds, according to Stewart.

“He's great right now,” Stewart said. “With the weather being how it is, we may wait a few days to work him again. There's no rush with a 3-year-old like him right now. We'll let this system go through and then work him and get him ready.”

Owned, bred and trained by Stewart, the chestnut colt overcame a difficult trip to graduate impressively on debut going six furlongs at Churchill Downs Nov. 4. He followed that up with a workmanlike two-length victory at the same trip in the state-bred Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile S. Dec. 10 at Fair Grounds. The Lecomte is contested at one mile and 70 yards.

“If for any reason he can't make the Lecomte, he will go to Delta (Downs) and run against statebreds,” Stewart offered. “There's a lot of money up there, too.”

One such spot at Delta would be the state-bred Louisiana Premier Night Prince S. over a mile Feb. 11.
