Run Away, an odds-on winner on debut, took all the money once again in the Santa Anita Juvenile S. and rewarded his backers, kicking away late from a stubborn pace companion to remain undefeated. Made a 7-10 proposition here May 26, the $325,000 Barretts March buy dueled for the lead early before scooting clear into the stretch and coming home a 2 1/4-length graduate. Off at odds-on in this stakes bow, the bay sparred with Argosy Fleet in the two-path through a :21.78 quarter. That pair remained inseparable until the final 100 yards, when Run Away just started to do the better work, edging clear to score. The victor has a yearling half-sister by Yes It's True who is offered as Hip 205 at next Tuesday's Fasig-Tipton July sale, and a weanling half-brother by Munnings.
“It's nice to get the first stakes win for Kaleem [Shah],” said winning trainer Simon Callaghan. “This is a good-minded kind of colt. I got a little anxious through the straight because he broke a little slow and had to rush up.
