Rochette Success For Dubawi's Glorious Journey

Soon after they had been officially launched, Sheikha Al Jalila Racing's maroon-and-white silks were off the mark and they graced the winner's enclosure at Saint-Cloud as the big-money purchase Glorious Journey made virtually all to capture this prize. Having raced in the Godolphin blue when beating the useful Grand Koonta (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) and Take Me With You (Scat Daddy) on his sole start over six furlongs at Newmarket June 10, the bay soon took over front-running duty from A Quiet Man with James Doyle intent on setting his own pace. Only Feralia emerged with a genuine threat in the straight, but Glorious Journey gave generously to hold that rival and double his tally. “He's always been a nice horse and very promising, but I didn't run him for three months after his debut as I thought he needed time,” trainer Charlie Appleby said. “He is a 3-year-old really, so his future is next year but he could possibly have another run this season. It is not a certainty.”
Glorious Journey was the co-highest priced yearling at last year's Tattersalls October Sale when selling to John Ferguson for 2.6million guineas and is the first winner for his G1 Coronation S.-winning British highweight Fallen For You. The second dam is the MGSP and Listed Silver Trophy winner Fallen Star, who is a half-sister to the G1 Lockinge S.-winning sire Fly to the Stars (GB) and to the dam of the G2 German 2000 Guineas winner Peace At Last (Ire) (Oasis Dream {GB}). Fallen Star's daughter Fallen In Love (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) was runner-up in the G2 Lancashire Oaks and produced Loving Things (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) who was third in that Haydock feature and also won the G3 Prix de Flore, while another of her offspring Shine Like a Star (GB) (Fantastic Light) was responsible for the SW & MGSP Light Up Our World (Ire) (Zoffany {Ire}) and MGSP Light Up My Life (Ire) (Zamindar). The dam has a yearling colt by Frankel (GB) and a colt foal also by Dubawi to come.
