Quiet Reflection Back To Winning Ways In the Rennaissance

Leaping to prominence last term when racking up a sequence of wins in the G3 Prix Sigy at Chantilly, G2 Sandy Lane S. at Haydock, G1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot and G1 Haydock Sprint Cup, Quiet Reflection was also third in the G1 July Cup on ground that was too lively for her but dipped uncharacteristically when seventh in Ascot's G1 Qipco British Champions Sprint S. in October. This season, the bay had been seen just the once when disappointing in 10th in the five-furlong G2 Temple S. at Haydock May 27 but Karl Burke was convinced he had her back and she duly regained momentum straightaway in a perfect prep for the upcoming G1 Qipco British Champions Sprint at Ascot Oct. 21. Showing all her usual verve held up worse than mid-division by Martin Harley, she needed racing space inside the final quarter mile but when it came she was able to cut down the errant long-time leader Alphabet with 150 yards remaining and assert for an authoritative success.

Burke is having his best season and was celebrating a group double on the card. “We had to take our time with her and it's just a shame that things didn't go right early on,” he said. “Hopefully she comes out of this well and roll on four weeks for Ascot. If the ground comes up soft, she will give Harry Angel a race. On soft ground this filly is very good and she can only sharpen up for that run. Win, lose or draw she has been an absolute star for us, and it's just great to get her back. We will be able to float her into Ascot now. We won't have to push her at all and can give her a nice easy week or two and then pick her up for a week or so. She has a great temperament and has been a pleasure to be around. She heads to Tattersalls in December.”

Quiet Reflection's dam My Delirium has just one other foal, the 3-year-old winning full-brother to this sprinting star named Full Intention (GB). She is also one of only two foals out of the Listed Hilary Needler Trophy winner Clare Hills, whose dam Morale is a full-sister to the Listed Jubileumslopning winner Bluebeard. Quiet Reflection's fifth dam Annie Aaron (Buffalo Lark) is a half-sister to the GI Kentucky Derby hero and champion Alysheba (Alydar).
