Quality Road Colts Square Off in Triple Bend

City of Light (Quality Road), an impressive two-length winner over next out stakes winner Edwards Going Left (Midnight Lute) in the GI Malibu S. Dec. 26, kicks off his 4-year-old campaign in Saturday's seven-furlong GI Triple Bend S. at Santa Anita. The bay has been working bullets for trainer Michael McCarthy, including a best-of-60 four-furlong move in :47 Feb. 24. “The horse is training awfully well,” McCarthy said. “I'm very pleased with his preparation.”

The unbeaten Captain Scotty (Quality Road) heads straight to the big leagues off his 'TDN Rising Star'-worthy performance in an optional claimer here Jan. 26. He was purchased privately by Gary Barber and Wachtel Stable after airing first out at Laurel.

Giant Expectations (Frost Giant), winner of last term's GII Pat O'Brien S. and GII San Antonio S., cuts back in distance following a ninth-place finish in the GI Pegasus World Championship Invitational at Gulfstream Jan. 27. He is cross-entered in the GI Big 'Cap.
