Over €150K Raised for Hanley Fund

An auction of stallion nominations and other industry-related products and services raised better than €150,000 Saturday night at Goffs, with the proceeds benefitting the Ann Hanley Parkinson's Research Fund. All the money raised will go directly to fund ground-breaking research into surgery that could change the course of the disease. Hanley, the wife of former Irish-based trainer and current WinStar Farm Manager David Hanley, was diagnosed with Parkinson's at the age of 49 and is a member of a research team led by Professor Greg Gerhardt and Dr Craig Van Horne in Kentucky. The Ann Hanley Parkinson's Research Fund has been set up solely to fund their work into these surgeries and allow the research to continue.

“I am overwhelmed by the kindness of those who have so generously contributed to the Ann Hanley Parkinson's Research Fund, be they vendors, purchasers or underbidders,” Ann Hanley commented. “We were all watching the proceedings live on the Goffs website as were the doctors involved in these ground breaking procedures. A heartfelt thank you to all involved, and special thanks to Henry Beeby, Eimear Mulhern and Niamh O'Hehir of Goffs and to Leo Powell of the Irish Field.”

As reported in Sunday's TDN, a season to leading young sire Siyouni (Fr) was sold for €58,000 to 'top' the auction.
