6th-LRC, $41,725, Msw, 11-30, 2yo, 5 1/2f, 1:04.79, ft.

VISION (c, 2, Orb–Spring Awakening {MSW, $258,178}, by In Excess {Ire}) closed well in deep stretch to graduate in impressive style at first asking Thursday at Los Alamitos. The $500,000 Fasig-Tipton March purchase broke widest of all and sat in midpack down the backstretch through an opening quarter in :22.46, set by fellow firster Optic (Gemologist). The bay was very green at the top of the stretch, swinging five wide off the far turn. Vision began to pick up momentum down the center of the track under strong urging from Mike Smith, before ducking back inside to space near the rail and persevered for the 1 1/4-length victory. Shanghai Billy (Shanghai Bobby) battled gamely for second. This is the eighth winner for Vision's freshman sire (by Malibu Moon). Vision is a half to Walk Close (Tapit), GSW, $294,458. His second dam Catchofthecentury (Carson City) is an unraced half to GSW Micromanage (Medaglia d'Oro), $790,551. Sales history: $185,000 Ylg '16 KEESEP; Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $24,000.
