War Front | Claiborne Farm

Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Wednesday's Insights features a son of Classic heroine Zenda (GB) (Zamindar).

His 11 opponents include Godolphin's once-raced Falcon Eye (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}), who is a half-brother to 2013 GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf-winning sire Outstrip (GB) (Exceed and Excel {Aus}) out of 2006 GI Spinster S. victress Asi Siempre (El Prado {Ire}), from the Charlie Appleby stable.

Godolphin's IMPERIAL PAST (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) is a son of 2010 G3 Thousand Guineas Prelude winner and G1 Champagne third Divorces (Aus) (Domesday {Aus}), and the homebred bay debuts for Charlie Appleby here. Rivals include Khalifa Dasmal's fellow newcomer Prime Minister (Ire) (Dream Ahead), who is an Ed Vaughan-trained half-brother to MG1SW sire Doctor Dino (Fr) (Muhtathir {GB}) and the stakes-winning 2013 G1 Kikuka Sho-Japanese St Leger third Bande (Ire) (Authorized {Ire}).

THREEANDFOURPENCE (War Front) was runner-up going seven furlongs in a hot Curragh maiden, which produced Tuesday's Galway maiden winners Hazapour (Ire) (Shamardal) and Coeur d'Amour (Ire) (Zoffany {Ire}), in his only prior start last month and the Aidan O'Brien trainee is opposed by a fully-subscribed cast of 17 in this return. Evie Stockwell's homebred bay is a son of 2007 G3 Ballyogan S. victress Liscanna (Ire) (Sadler's Wells) and is thus a full-brother to 2015 GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf scorer Hit It A Bomb and last term's G1 Cheveley Park S. heroine Brave Anna.
