3rd-KYO, ¥9,550,000 (US$83k), Maiden, 3yo, 1400m
KI Farm's MENUETT (JPN) (Tapit) makes her second trip to the post, having finished a promising third going this distance over a sloppy Hanshin main track on her Christmas Eve debut. The gray filly is a daughter of Spinning Wildcat (Hard Spun), herself a daughter of champion Hollywood Wildcat (Kris S.) and therefore closely related to GI Breeders' Cup Mile winner War Chant (Danzig). Spinning Wildcat was purchased by KI Farm carrying this foal in utero for $600K at the 2013 Keeneland November sale. Christophe Lemaire has the call.

6th-KYO, ¥11,400,000 (US$99k), Newcomers, 3yo, 1600mT
Lemaire also takes the ride aboard the Glencrest Farm-bred 3-year-old filly CHILLY SILVER (Malibu Moon). An $85,000 graduate of the 2015 Fasig-Tipton July sale, the chestnut breezed an eighth of a mile in a smart :10 flat at last year's Barretts March sale and was hammered down to Emmanuel de Seroux's Narvick International for $240,000. Chilly Silver has license to turf, as her dam Jacey's Reward (Johannesburg) is a half-sister to treble Grade I winner Magical Fantasy (Diesis {GB}).
