Not This Time to Train Up to BC Juvenile

Albaugh Family Stable's Not This Time (Giant's Causeway) is headed straight to the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Nov. 5 after an emphatic 8 3/4-length victory in Saturday's GIII Iroquois S. at Churchill Downs, which was a Breeders' Cup “Win and You're In” event.

“We'll probably just go straight there,” Romans said. “He looked fine to me [Sunday] morning.”

The conditioner added, “I think that the slow start was just the victim of being the last horse loaded in the starting gate. I also think the track might have been a little slow [Saturday]. He ran about two seconds faster than the fillies [in the GII Pocahontas S.]. It's hard to compare apples to apples.”

Pocahontas winner Daddys Lil Darling (Scat Daddy) could make her next start in Keeneland's GI Darley Alcibiades S. Oct. 8, according to trainer Ken McPeek.

“We won't completely rule it out,” said McPeek, who also won last year's Pocahontas with Dothraki Queen (Pure Prize). “We haven't decided on the Alcibiades or simply train her up to the Breeders' Cup. My first instinct would be to train her up but we'll see how she does during these next few days. We have a few weeks to make a decision.”
