No Surgery For Walsh

Irish champion jumps jockey Ruby Walsh will not require surgery on the broken tibia he suffered when falling from Let's Dance (Fr) (Poliglote {GB}) at Punchestown on Saturday. Walsh endured a torrid day with three falls in total, the final one proving the worst and he was due to partner the former Champion hurdler Faugheen (Ire) (Germany) who made a scintillating comeback in Sunday's G1 Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown. 38-year-old Walsh now faces several months on the sidelines but the prognosis that the jockey does not require surgery has left Turf Club chief medical officer Dr Adrian McGoldrick more upbeat about his recovery period. “The leg doesn't require surgery, which is very reassuring. It's in a plaster cast. It's too early to say how long he'll be out for. He'll have X-rays again in a week's time and we'll see what's what. We just have to be guided by his consultants,” McGoldrick said on Sunday.
