New Vocations will host their annual “Open Barn and BBQ” Friday, Apr. 28 at Mereworth Farm at the conclusion of the dressage portion of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event seven miles down the road at the Kentucky Horse Park.
The event will include dinner, open bar and guest of honor Valerie Ashker, who will share her experiences riding cross country on an ex-racehorse. The highlight of the evening will be a freestyle demonstration by Lindsey Partridge, who was the 2016 Freestyle Champion at the Retired Racehorse Project's Thoroughbred Makeover.
“We are so excited to once again welcome the public to our new facility,” said Program Director Anna Ford. “Last year was an overwhelming success despite the fact that only Phase One of the facility was completed. We look forward to everyone seeing how the farm has changed over the past year and incorporating the educational portion that celebrates the heart and versatility of the Thoroughbred back into the evening.”
