Magic Lily (GB) (New Approach {Ire}), a daughter of the 4-million gns Classic winner Dancing Rain (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), scored impressively on debut on Saturday to earn 'TDN Rising Star' status. Magic Lily raced in sixth early and improved one spot after the initial exchanges. Looming large on the outside with three furlongs remaining, the 5-2 joint-favourite was sent to the front approaching the final eighth and surged clear up the hill to account for market rival Mystic Meg (GB) (Camelot {GB}) by a eight lengths. The homebred chestnut is the first scorer for G1 Epsom Oaks and G1 Preis der Diana heroine Dancing Rain, herself a sibling of Listed St Hugh's S. victress Sumora (Ire) (Danehill), who in turn produced G1 Moyglare Stud S.-winning European champion juvenile filly and G1 1000 Guineas third Maybe (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and MG1SP G3 Silver Flash S. victress Promise To Be True (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). From a family which also features MG1SW sire Dr Devious (Ire) (Ahonoora {GB}) and recent 'TDN Rising Star' attainee Saxon Warrior (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}), she is full to a yearling colt and half to a filly foal by Dubawi (Ire). Initially a €200,000 yearling, Dancing Rain was bought by John Ferguson for 4-million gns at Tattersalls December in 2013 in foal to Frankel (GB). That resulting foal, a 3-year-old filly named Rainswept (GB), has yet to start. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $6,111. Click for the Racing Post result or the free Equineline.com catalogue-style pedigree.
